NFL Championship Round Picks

And then there were 4…

This weekend the Jets, Colts, Vikings and Saints will battle it out to see who earns a trip to Miami. The Colts and Saints are prohibitive favorites but the Jets defied the odds last week, can they do it again?  The most intriuging  storyline is the Jets/Colts rematch of Week 16 when the Colts removed most of their starters. The Jets won that game and haven’t lost one since. But, the Colts and their fans are out to prove they are still the team that was 14-0.

Brett Favre is attempting to become the oldest quarterback to play in the Super Bowl with Tony Kornheiser at head coach. Their defense re-established themselves and knocked Kurt Warner out last week. Sean Payton, the play calling wizard, will try to keep the Vikings off balance with a healthy mix of run and pass. The Saints have more weapons then Delonte West’s backpack.

Peyton Manning can establish his legacy with two more wins

Brett Favre can finally retire with two more wins

Drew Brees can afford surgery to remove that thing with two more wins

Rex Ryan/Mark Sanchez can be the first rookie Coach/QB combo to win a Super Bowl with…you guessed it…two…more…wins!

As far as our picks go, Buddah currently sits atop the leaderboard at 6-2. Matt, who you should never take betting advice from, unless its college basketball, is bringing up the rear at 2-6.

Jets + 8 @ Colts

Matt - (Colts) I have been picking against the Jets every week and will do so
again this week. Why not? I’m in dead last and its bringing them some
luck. However, Dahbrickashaw (how it should be spelled) hasn’t seen an
end like Freeney or Mathis and when the Jets do pass (maybe a total of
14 times) I think they will disrupt the Sanchise. The Colts also have
a better running game then the Chargers and more options on Offense.
Revis can only shut down one guy and thats Wayne. Although I can see
Manning testing him early on. It should be a great battle either way.

Ryan - (Jets) The Jets are playing with house money at this point. If they can disrupt Peyton Manning’s rhythm, they have a legitimate shot at winning this game. The Jets must Run the ball effectively and rough up the Colts receivers. This game will come down to the wire.

Spi “The Greek - (Colts) I’ll be rooting for the Jets in this one but I see their magical run coming to an end 1 game short of the Super Bowl.  Sanchez is trying to become the first rookie QB to ever play in the Super Bowl, but I think he is going to make a couple mistakes in this one due to the fact that the Jets will need to throw more.  Peyton and the offense had last week to get the rust off and they will come out firing.

Drunken Jets Fans - (Jets) Welp, good things do come in twos: two Jets wins in a row, as well as two ejections from the bar. Needless to say I have never been this happy or confident in a Jets team. Rex Ryan has changed the dynamic of this team, and everyone has bought in. Sanchize and Co. will come out guns blazing, looking to rough up a small Colts line on both sides of the ball. Shonn (I think I just found my son’s name) Greene seems to be peaking at just the right time, thanks to a light workload throughout the year. The D has one game under their belt against a half hearted Peyton, and personally I would not want to face them after a week of film, regardless if it’s Peyton or Ken O’Brien. The key here is going to be Dallas Clark, but after studying a few mistakes from Antonio Gates, I think changes are certain. We have seen this journey before with the New York Giants, and I expect not only a Jets victory, but Sanchez with his first 200+ yd performance in the past several weeks. Swaggerlicious, OUT.

Juice Springstreen - (Colts) Peyton Manning literally takes a 2 girls 1 cup like dump all over the Jets and their band out loud mouth idiotic fans…Colts win in a rout to put an end to that fat bastard and that mexicans nonsense

Buddah - (Jets) Are the jets gonna go to the Superbowl? Maybe. By maybe, I mean probably and by probably I mean maybe, but they’ll cover!!!

Vikings + 3.5 @ Saints

Matt - (Saints) Once again, the home crowd comes into play. If the Saints can jump out to an early lead, the crowd will play a factor and New Orleans can book their flights to Miami. With Darren Sharper lurking in the secondary, Favre won’t be able to air it out to Rice like he did last weekend. Brees is on a mission. Bush finally seems like he belongs in the NFL after last weekend. The Saints will continue roll…I mean march their way to an NFC title.

Ryan - (Saints) The Saints offense was back in full effect last week. Who knew Reggie Bush could actually run with some toughness? He is motivated by two things, 1) a new contract 2) marrying Kim Kardashian’s butt. I will never bet on Brett Favre in a big game, didn’t Corey Webster end his career three years ago?

Spi “The Greek - (Saints) This game is tough to pick.  If the Vikings can run the ball and Favre doesn’t turn the ball over, I can definitely see them coming out of this game with the victory.  Favre has been flawless all year, but I think he is due for a bad game with Sharper (former teammate) lurking.   I think Brees will have a huge game against a suspect Vikings secondary and the home crowd will be too much for the Vikings.

Drunken Jets Fans - (Saints) Does it matter? Either team is dessert for the Jets. Saints, Darren Sharper O/U 3 picks, enough said. Swaggerlicious, OUT.

Juice Springsteen - (Saints) Drew Brees and the Saints will put a Katrina like bashing on the Vikings at home…the only difference is George Bush will actually pay attention this time (since this is more important any way)…Saints win to set up an epic battle with the Colts ending Brett Favre’s run at a 2nd championship…kinda gonna miss seeing Brad Childress’ bald shiney dome though.

Buddah - (Saints) Listen, I know everyone wants to see Favre/Sanchez, but I asked Drew Brees what he thought of Brett Favre to which he replied…”WHO DAT???????”

The majority of people are taking the Colts to kill the Jets this
week but you have to consider how well New York matches up against
Indy. Indy has the worst running game in the league, and is ALL
Peyton. The Jets have the #1 pass-defence and if they can put the
clamps on Peyton early… it could very well be a Jets win. TheCoach
isn’t calling a J-E-T-S JETS JETS JETS win but they will cover the
spread. I know Indy shut down Baltimore’s running game last week
but the Jets strive on being quick and elusive.. something Ray Rice
    isn’t…

Minnesota and New Orleans is going to be such a good game. I was
hoping all season long these two would meet up in the NFC
Championship and honestly.. either team could team this game. The
Saints are -3.0 favourites and historically home team get given three
points for the home-field advantage… so basically this game is a
pick-em and there is ONE thing that I like about the Saints and its
that home-field advantage. Last week Warner and Romo combined for 7
sacks and 4 fumbles largely in part to not being able to communicate
with their offence. The SuperDome is NUTS and I don’t care how much
experience Favre has, the crowd can help a team and also hurt the
    other so much.
